New Pilgrim, looking for post-Camino ideas

Hi, this is my first post though I have been following for a while. I am planning my first Camino starting April 2018. I anticipate about a week at leisure following our Camino and am looking for suggestions of places to visit after Santiago and Finisterre. Somewhere close enough for train or bus transport preferably. Thanks in advance.

Lovely prospect and what a beautiful month to walk.
Did you also consider maybe taking a slower tempo during the Camino? You know you don't have to " do " a specific amount of kilometres a day.. You might find for instance Pamplona or Burgos nice enough to stay there for two days?
Or you might become infatuated by a small village and prefer to stay there a it longer? I once did and I loved it...

But if you have time left after Santiago and Finisterre I can recommend A Coruña ( pilars of Hercules ) easily reached by public transport.

My wife and I had never been to Portugal, so we took a bus to Porto from Santiago, continued on to Lisboa, and then took the train to Madrid for our flight home.

Thank you. My husband is planning to meet me after I complete Camino, so not an option to just linger along the way. I have been looking at both A Coruna and Porto.

Where is your departure from Spain?

I will be flying to Prague at end of May, don't have flight for that booked yet. Waiting to decide where I will be flying from.

I would suggest Islas Cies off the coast from Vigo. There is regular ferry service and there are camping rentals. Vigo has the largest airport in Galicia.

We had exactly the same idea after our first camino ...what to do with a week! I wish we had planned where to go as we had post camino dithers for a few days. In the end we made a snap decision to fly to Seville then on to Granada for the alhambra and then up to Barcelona where our flight was leaving from. We had this idea that we may never again visit Spain from Australia.! However, we have been back many times. A Coruna, Porto and Lisbon are great.

Does your husband have any preferences?
You might find a few places along your camino that you'd like to share with him so you could backtrack to those spots.
I’m guessing he wouldn’t be interested in walking a one week camino (Ingles or Salvador?) with you - but maybe it’s other commitments that prevent him joining you earlier and not lack of interest - so that might be a possibility.
Or the whole of Europe is right on your doorstep!

From Muxia I took a bus up to A Coruna. That's a wonderful, historic city. You can climb to the top of the Tower of Hercules. You'll also see Camino Ingles markers, which will make you feel right at home after your long trek. After A Coruna I headed back to Santiago for another night and then down to Porto. Funny, in Porto I walked into a tourist information building only to find a fellow pilgrim I dined with the first week of my Camino! Both Porto and A Coruna are great post Camino destinations.
