Having been well and truly bitten by the Camino experience earlier in the year and being fortunate enough to have the time available I was lucky enough to complete the first half of the Norte and link into the Primitivo as well as adding a scenic train journey onto the end of the trip. I used the updated Cicerone guide (I have expressed my views on the accuracy of this book elsewhere). "B"at the end of a stage indicates that I slept out using a bivvy bag . "H" indicates a hotel.

This time on completion I took the train to Ferrol, next morning took the coastal train to Oviedo for an overnight stop. Then took the following morning train to Santander where I spent a couple of enjoyable days before catching the ferry back to Portsmouth. Coastal train is well worth the time (its no expense 23 and 16 euros for each ticket) and although transferred onto a bus for the last leg into Oviedo the overall journey was very scenic. On the Oviedo to Santander section you have the added treat of seeing the Camino Norte trundle past the window for some of the way letting you bask in the smugness of reflecting "I did that".
