Oloron-Sainte-Marie: Albergue?

Time of past OR future Camino
Oloron-Sainte-Marie to Jaca - mid july 2017
Hi!
I am doing my first (small part of the) Camino in two weeks from now: From Oloron-Sainte-Marie to Jaca - taking it easy at 10-15 km a day.
As I will arrive quite late in Oloron (17.30), I was thinking about making a reservation for that night. Can anybody recommend an albergue in Oloron? I'm going the budget way, so I'd rather not stay in hotels. It would be a plus if they also serve a simple dinner.

- Does anybody knows if you can get a credential and stamp spot at Oloron?
- I wasn't planning on making reservations for albergues for the rest of the trip, or should I?
- Is it needed to bring a fair amount of cash with you or are there some cash withdraws in that area?

Thank you all in advance!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Hi
I think there was a discussion opened on this on 'Camino Aragonés' in the forum section perhaps you may want to look at this and pick up some ideas.Looks like a nice route may try it sometime. Buen Camino:)

Oloron SM has plenty of ATMs. It's a large town with lots of tourists. Albergue above is lovely. €15 from memory. Good cooking facilities. Nice terrace to eat on.

The threads recommended above relate to Lourdes to SJPP and not to the route to Jaca which is part of the Via Tolosana or Arles route. It is some years since I did this, October 2012 to be precise, and my guide book got very, very wet! From Oleron to Sarrance I walked through streams and had to stop because of foot problems. I only used the albergues in Oleron and Sarrance. Oleron has a hospitalero but I got the door code from the Tourist Office, both will give you a stamp. I doubt very much that you can make a reservation but 17.30 is not late, this is not a very busy camino.
Sarrance :22kms has a wonderful albergue, my guide said you should phone beforehand 0559345478 but I didn't and had no problem, it is attached to the church and was run by a wonderful priest, they do dinner and breakfast.
According to the info I still have the albergues from there on are:
Bedous: 9 kms www.aspecanfranc.com
Borce: 13 kms where there are 2 albergues
Col du Somport: 20 kms
Canfrance: Albergue Pepito Grillo, private, reservations 974 373 123, this is now Spain.
Jaca

As far as I know only Sarrance and Canfranc do meals the others have kitchens, they tend to be small villages, particularly Borce.
Re credential: I don't think so, you'd be wise to get one quickly, try Ivar!!!!
It is a lovely route I am sorry I could not finish. Good luck I hope it all goes well

Unless things have changed in the past 3 years, you will find yourself walking at least 20km from albergue to albergue on this route, there are not many services in between Sarrance, Borce and Canfranc.

There is regular bus service from Oloron to Canfran Station which may help you limit your daily walks to 10-15 km. The bus runs several times daily, but the first part of the route is sometimes replaced by trains. A different bus line services Canfranc Station to Jaca. Jaca, I might add, is worth an extra day's stay. It is a delightful small city.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
