Our first Camino

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
One of goals in life is to be able to tell a New Zealand accent from an Australian accent! Welcome to the Forum and Buen Camino!

From New Zealand - Jenny and Lynda starting our first Camino on April 15
Jenny and Lynda, I'll be a couple of weeks ahead of you on my first Camino (Frances). I'm writing from Sydney so I can already pick the difference between Aussie and Kiwi - we lived in Wellington for a while in the mid-seventies, but a few decades of additional study has enabled us to actually understand the Kiwi language. Buenest of Caminos - Mike

I've just reread that and I'm sorry if it sounded a bit snarky. I was trying to be funny but there have been probably a few million too many jokes about the Aussie/Kiwi thing in all its permutations. One of my sons was born in New Zealand and we toured the whole country twice. Had a lovely time. Buen Camino

Us Kiwis don't mind the jokes about our accents etc. It is all in good fun and as long as we continue to win in Rugby (we wont talk about the cricket)then we can cope.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi Lynda and welcome to this wonderful forum. Wish you a great experience and a Buen Camino, Peter.
Thank you Peter. I realise that my post was a bit short. I thought I was just putting us in the calendar. We are both very excited and are loving reading the forum and getting great ideas. I feel like I have walked the whole camino already. As it is summer in NZ, we are having lots of long days and great weather to do our training. We are tackling really challenging terrains with our full packs so should be well prepared for the first couple of days. We are actually going to stop at Orrison for the evening as we will still be jet lagged from our long trip from down under. The anticipation is killing me.

Hi there

It is great to hear from someone who is starting the camino on the same date as us. And you have done it before so you will be able to share some prior experiences. We are actually coming from Bayonne and getting a taxi to SJPDP on the 14th. Our first day of walking is the 15th and we have chosen to spend the night at Orrison. I am sure our paths will cross on the Way. Buen Camino!!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
