Hi just thought I post some photos a friend is sending me tonight, met him and his partner in 2010 on my first Camino, so why not share a meal on the Camino on here tonight.
Just had another post from him, don't know if its Dan Blas but it is in Fuenterroble
Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.
Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.
That may be the albergues that is run by Don Blas in Fuenterroble. Don Blas is the local priest and is a bit of a legend on the VdlP.
I am not sure because I was the only Pilgrim in the albergues when I went through in August...there were some homeless people staying in part of the rufugio. He did celebrate a Mass that night in the Church in the town.
I remember that room (I think) but, as I was the only one there...there was obviously no communal dinner.
I ate at Bar Jose which had been recommended by JRit.
Thanks for that Grayland, he's been sending photos of the route for a while but its when you see a group around the table that it makes me hanker a little to be out there.
Of all the albergues I've encountered, Fuenterroble stands out in my memory. the stone walls, wooden beams, beautiful murals and inpirational inscriptions are just wonderful. When I was there, we were just two for the evening meal, and the other (Spanish) peregrino has become a great friend. I took more photos in this building than I did in any other on my Camino, and it's very difficult to choose one to share.
I stayed there Easter Saturday last year.I got a lovely welcome, before any formalities was invited to sit have tea and an Easter desert. Had a wonderful communal dinner and breakfast. I recognise the dining room.I have great memories of my stay there
Wonderful place.I didn't get to meet the priest, it was July and he was away, but his locum was a very nice bloke. He said he would cook the starter and main course and that we could chip in with anything else if we felt we wanted to.....everyone did and a great meal was had. Only five of us and that included one lass who was running the camino!
