Hi,

Name is John van der Sandt, I am from South Africa and my wife and I are planning to do the Pilgramage in 2014 for my 40th.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Wow! This is what you call planning ahead! :D

You've come to the right place to learn ...lots of experienced pilgrims here.

Buen Camino!

:D Well i am a Project Manager so yea planning is my middle name, i think i have got the time to get everything that i might need as well as plan what i need to plan to make it the most enjoyable experience. I think the other thing is that i have never left South African shores so the whole thing for me is going to be a new experience in many diffrent areas.

There are a few things i am currently busy with and that is:
- Trying to find a course or an online place where i can learn to speak Spanish.
- Resourcing via google earth the routes that one can take.
- Flights costs when would be the best time to book.
- Visa when would be the best time to apply for a visa.
- What gear would i need to take with me.
- How do i get my mountian bike across, as i would like to cycle as well as walk the 750km route.
Hardess part for me is how do i leave my kids in SA for a month :(

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Everyone loves their own bicycle; after spending all that money, who wouldn't? But you can rent a good bicycle:

Transporting your bicycle to and from Spain, and around Spain probably is more than that. I am pondering a bike rental for the Portugues.
