I was supposed to start in SJPP on May 28. But, last week on an 11-mile hike, I tripped over a root and did a face-plant on the trail. No major injury to my face, other than a lump and some bruising. But I also broke a rib cartilage and bruised other ribs. It will take 2-3 months to heal, so I have to postpone my Camino. This is very disappointing, as I also, like many others, had to cancel in 2020 and 2021, due to COVID restrictions.
I'm trying to look on the bright side. I can now work on some winter projects, involving lots of computer time. And I can still walk, as long as I stay on smooth surfaces that don't require the use of trekking poles. We have a great paved rail-trail right next to my house, so I am indeed fortunate. I am starting to plan for a late August start on the Camino. Planning is half the fun, anyway!
