Time of past OR future Camino
planning camino this summer
Hi,

I have 3 weeks only this July (maybe 4 weeks at the most) to do some part of the camino as my bday present.
I would like to end the camino at Santiago De Compostela. few questions (for now):

1. what will be most recommended route for this time of the year & length of the walk? I'm in a very good shape - looking for great views, don't mind the crowd.

2. Will it be boiling hot or fairly nice weather beginning of July?

many thanks for taking your time ...

Shirley

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
You can expect hot with occasional chilly at high elevations. July rain will be rare, but not impossible.

You can go to this site to see how far you can travel in the time you have. You can customize it to the length of the day you plan to walk. Note that it starts in Roncesvalles, so add a day or two if you start in St. Jean Pied de Port.

Well, for a first time, the Frances is the classic one. It has good accomodations, it is very well (almost excessively) signposted, many albergues, interesting cities and landscapes. That is, if you don´t mind the summer crowds, specially the last 100 km. As falcon269 told you, in July it is mostly hot and sunny; a hat is recommended.
Buen camino!
