Time of past OR future Camino

Hello,
I am planning to start walking my first Camino starting in late July. Plans at the moment are to arrive in St Jean on the evening of 24th July and then heading off on the 25th. Should I delay a day or two as I understand that the 25th is a feast day in Roncesvalles?
Will finding somewhere to bunk in Roncesvalles be challenging on the 25th. I hope to complete the walk in one hit and I need to be back in the UK by the end of August. Was hoping to spend a few days in Santiago as it is a lovely city; delaying my departure might cut that short.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Don't know what your budget is, but if there is no place to stay in Roncesvalles, walk another 3 kilometers to Burguete. There are two or three places (pensiones, hotels) to stay at there. It's an easy 3 kilometers. Pretty flat.

If necessary, I believe Albergue Irugoienea, in Espinal, will do a shuttle service for you from / to Roncesvalles. They'll pick you up in Roncesvalle, take you to their albergue for the night, and then return you to Roncesvalles in the morning to continue your walk. Last year they were €10 per night (for bunks - they also have private rooms). I haven't checked with them yet for this year's rates.

Their contact details are:

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
I don't know what festival you are referring to but festivals in Spain are numerous and well attended so nearby towns might be an issue for accommodations without a reservation. If time is a limiting factor for your trek, you might consider starting in Pamplona.

thanks...think I'll stick with my original plan...what's the worst that can happen!?!
While I'm here, I play the trumpet and don't really fancy not playing for a whole month as it will take e a long tome to get my lip back. Has anyone travelled the Camino with a trumpet or will I be the first?

I'm sure you won't be the first, as there have been pipers on the Camino for years.

My first question would be "How much does your trumpet weigh?" and can you afford to lose it or will you sleep with it?

Just 100 more get ups until I get on the Eurostar and start my journey.
Glad I've decided to travel down to SJ on a Thursday, as the TGV from Paris seems to be about €30 more expensive on a Friday.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Roncesvalles doesn't run out off beds for pilgrims easily. Relax and Buen Camino! SY
