Hi,
I will be starting the Camino in Roncesvalles mid July 2013. Will I be allowed to stay in an alburgue the night before starting, if I didn't walk to Roncesvalles? Should I try to make a pension reservation to make sure I have a place to stay?
Thanks.... Frank

Santi-Walker,

Welcome to the Forum!

You will be allowed to stay in the Roncevalles monastery albergue even if you did not walk there. When you arrive you can obtain your pilgrim Credential at the albergue. At Roncevalles there are 183 beds within the albergue and usually extra 'emergency' pilgrim accommodation available for overflow in summer. You can see more information regarding the Roncevalles albergue at this Forum link >> http://www.caminodesantiago.me/camino-f ... cesvalles/. Two other useful Roncevalles web pages are >> http://www.alberguederoncesvalles.com, and http://www.roncesvalles.es

Buen Camino,

Re: Accomodations in Roncesvalles-Mid July

Hello Margaret Meredith.
Keep cool!
If you are concerned where you should lie down your head in the first night in a foreign country and even in a foreign continent:
There are plenty of beds in Roncesvalles even in the high season in July.
1. the pilgrims refuge in the monastry.
2. the hostal Casa Sabina (small hotel)
3. the hostal La Posada (small hotel)
4. the hotel in the monastry Casa Benificados
