Starting point for central

[Camino Aussie Carol]

Planning on the central starting late august from Porto. I did the senda literal/coastal/spiritual,last year. I’m conscious of time so trying to decide where to start to miss most of the suburb walking out of Porto. Happy to catch the train, bus or taxi to a starting point for the first days walking. Any suggestions? Would prefer the first day walking to not be over 20km. Thanks for any suggestions.

If you don’t want to walk out of Porto, which I agree with, take a taxi to Vilar do Pinheiro and start walking from there to either Mosterio or Vilarihno. This way you’ll miss the urban zone of Maia.

A few people we travelled with were short on time so they started from Ponte de Lima and were most pleased with the time it took them to get to Santiago. They were done in ten days with a leisurely pace.

You could take the metro from Porto to Vilar de Pinheiro or even to Forum Maia and take an easy walk to Vairão where is the nice albergue o Mosteiro de Vairão and next day to São Pedro de Rates
From there to Barcelos
Then to Casa da Fernanda
Ponte de Lima
Rubiães
Valença do Minho or Tu
O Porriño
Redondela ( or advised to Cessantes, albergue o Refúxio de la Jerézana)
Pontevedra
Caldas de Reis
