How cool is this?!?! I’m a former tall ship sailor myself (I spent a year sailing on a 3-masted barquentine), who is about to begin my first camino (in less than 20 days!) This is the best of both worlds!

Please keep us posted on this endeavor - it’s pretty awesome! 😍

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Brilliant! Best of luck. Buen Camino.

Samarkand.

Heck, I *don't * live in the UK, but my husband and I were talking about doing an approved extension and then walking the Ingles. And he *loves* sailing, and tall ships.

If you're serious about this, I think we could guarantee 2 members. I'll try to contact you.

Woo-hoo!

Hi Tom
We are talking to a few different ships and hope to reach agreement with one of them next week.
They are all quoting roughly the same cost - it varies slightly dependant on port of departure and number of passengers
The voyage should be 6 - 8 days but they add a couple of days in case of bad weather
Yes - I agree it seems expensive - but for the adventure of a lifetime?!
By the way this cost is just for the sail - you need to allow for walking Ingles and returning home.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
@nedspencer, that is a great project and I wish you the best of luck! This is as close as it can get to the (erstwhile) real thing for pilgrims from Ireland and from the UK.

Just curious: I guess you will not be sailing a straight line from the English port to Coruña? More along the coast of France and Spain? Or will it depend on the weather and how rough the legendary Biscay is?

Hi
I believe the direction of the ship depends on the weather and in particular the prevailing winds.
The most likely scenario is that the ship will sail west from out of the English channel and then south to NW Spain - it probably won't sail in a straight line!!

Interested?

Don't miss the boat!!

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
We will be there in summer 24 as well. We plan to fly to Madrid and meet family there. Probably be on the trail at the end of May and walk through June, including walking to the coast (Muxia). This ship thing has my attention.

We have had lots of interest in this Camino! I think there are more people interested than available places.
I think we need a bigger boat!

WELL DONE to Peter Hore, Simon Jenkins and Ned Spencer who initiated this as an idea and which has now become a reality in the form of the Tall Ship Camino Inglés. Sailing out from Fowey, Cornwall in England aboard the ship Morgenster, the planned voyage sees 36 participating crew/peregrinos on the ship so as to arrive in La Coruña, Galicia in the middle of June.

From La Coruña, the peregrinos will walk to Santiago de Compostela in time for the celebration of the Pilgrim Mass at midday on Thursday 20 June.

Really looking forward to participating in this amazing and quite distinct Camino - and a very big thank you to those who initiated this idea.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Will the walking be in a group with a schedule or is everyone on his or her own before finally arriving on June 20?

For this year all the places were reserved a while back. My understanding is that there is significant interest in the venture being repeated in a future year.

Suggest to keep a weather eye on the Confraternity of St James (CsJ) web site :

In the undertaking for 2024 the walking element is as each person chooses - with no obligation to walk as part of a group.
