I know the problem all too well  Much worse than blisters on the feet. For me the most important issue was my choice of underwear: I stopped using cotton because it captures sweat and then chafes badly. Two different approaches that work for me.
(A) Close fitting smooth synthetic fibres like Lycra. Very lightweight cycling shorts work well (without padding!)
(B) Wearing very loose baggy sports shorts with a sewn-in nylon mesh support which replaces underpants and allows a lot of ventilation around the problem area.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Synthetic, breathable tech type hiking shorts, pants or convertible pants. Lot's of brands out there and if possible get the type with a gusseted crotch.
Same goes with the underwear. I prefer the type with a longer inseam/leg (about 9"). They don't ride up your leg while walking.
Avoid any shorts or pants made of cotton. They are heavier, don't breathe and dry slow after washing.
Also carry a small tube of vaseline. If you do get some chafing, that will help you heal up and avoid it in the future.
