This evening we tested what turned out to be a perfect wine for tomorrow's moose steak/grouse Christmas dinner: A Bierzo red wine with a lot of Spanish temper and taste: The Pilgrim!

The aluminum cap and the cork contain the shell, and the wine itself is a very tasty Bierzo red wine. I never knew. It says on the bottle: "This wine is the pilgrim's reward when they fall in love with El Bierzo through Camino de Santiago Way"

Another possibility ....?

I was in Cantabria in September on the Norte. Being familiar with the south of Spain, I asked tentatively for Manzanilla - a type of sherry usually difficult to find north of Seville. To my surprise, the dueno was able to provide us with some, but told us that the local tipple is Blanco. So after that, we ordered blanco everywhere we stopped. A bit sweeter than manzanilla, but still hits the spot.

Back in the south, I was told that blanco is a sweet dessert wine, so we were maybe bucking the local custom somewhat. Here manzanilla is consumed at all times of the day - by everyone from bricklayers to bankers.
