I was disappointed that there a bus from Bayonne station, to St Jean Pied de port not the train.I was told later by a Canadian peregrino that the (edit) steal the copper from the tracks ,and French government is sick of replacing it.I wondered if this is the case ,or was he was taking a lend of me .

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

There were a couple of landslides onto the track which takes a lot of monies and time to put right......the stretch of track is not mainline so its not priority works.
I left Bayonne 3 times this year,on the train bus combo and I noticed only once were people working on the line......

its not a cost effective line.....so maybe a coach would be more viable in the future....

first time for me hearing about the copper theft....although well organised gangs do steal copper from cabling .Its the rail company and the passengers who foot the bill ultimately..

Tracks are made of steel ... not copper. Steel scrap values aren't high enough to steal pieces of track.

The tracks got washed out in April 2014 and there is not a date for when tracks will be repaired.

The train currently goes from Bayonne to Cambo les Bains. Onward passengers transfer to a bus there.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
