Astorga to Santiago September 14-28 2015
I am walking the Camino Frances in September with a group. We are wondering - what is the best and most efficient way to get to Astorga?

We too (group of two are planning to start from Astorga in Mid Sep. We will be flying into Barcelona and are also wondering what is the best way to Astorga. Is there train ?

There are trains from Barcelona to Astorga. You can book closer to your travel dates on Renfe.es.

I think there are 2 direct trains per day - one at 9.30am and the night train ('trenhotel') at 8.20pm.

There are also flights (Iberia) from Barcelona to Leon.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

thank you Christopher. Is it faster to fly into Madrid and take a train to Astorga? Or is it possible to take a flight to Santiago and go backwards? Which is faster?

There are too many variables among which there are multiple flights into Madrid vice perhaps one flight into Santiago.
