I was wandering if it is necessary (or maybe, a good precaution) to take any vaccines before starting the Camino.

I have taken recently vaccines for common Flu, Rubella, Yellow Fever and H1N1, and for Measles, Poliomyelitis and Tetanus when I was a child.

When travelling to some places, doctors say to take specific vaccines. Is there any precaution for the Camino?

Spain is a very civilized and safe place. Having said that, you should be up-to-date with the boosters for all of your preventable diseases, and it sounds like you have some of them. Flu, as you've done.

I always advise folks to get Twinrix (Hepatitis A & B) before traveling anywhere in the world, particularly if you're in a lot of rural areas and in close quarters with other people. Better safe than sorry.

See below for CDC's advisory for Spain.

And buen camino!

Also the booster for tetanus is every ten years. I'm going to take care of this too. Normally when you would get into an ER or at GP they'll give you a booster to be sure, but better be safe than sorry.

buen camino!
