Variants without markers

On CF has anyone walked on the variant leaving from Santo Domingo de la Calzada (Plan 30 Miam Miam Dodo). It says there are no markers. It avoids walking along the highway. The fact they have printed the variant makes me think many pilgrims must use it. There is also another one on Plan 32 from Viloría de Rioja - also unmarked. Any feedback much appreciated.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
You aren't walking right along the highway although close to it. It isn't a bad walk. I didn't find the regular route bad at all. There are a couple of ways that look like they could have been old ways that go through a farmers field and would require some bushwacking. Might also have to wade through an irrigation canal.

Thank you JW for the feedback. That's good to know.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I walked from the carretera to Corporales and Morales, if that's the route you mean. I saw that the road sign said "Grañón 8 km" and I knew that Grañón was where I needed to get to, so I just followed the road. If you come to a junction with no direction sign, either take the road that looks more important, or ask at the nearest house. It enables you to pass (or stay at) the Ermita (and albergue) de Carrasquedo, which you wouldn't see otherwise.
There is a Camino sign for the Viloria de Rioja, though (imo) it is hardly worth the detour, unless you want to visit the birthplace of Santo Domingo. You are soon back to the N-120. I made the mistake of taking the road to San Pedro, then got rather lost between San Pedro and Fresneña. There are many junctions with no signposts.

Well... this is a place where I got lost  coming out of SDdC and it took a while (and with help of friendly locals... Camino Provides, si?!) to get back on track..
I know that at some point I passed by Cruz de los valientes and made it into Granon... but I am somewhat dismayed to see that somehow I walked reasonably pretty close to Necrópolis visigoda and didn't notice it
Yup definitely need a repeat!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Thank you CWBuff for your feedback - we will decide if we're willing to risk it closer to the time.
