Outside of Semana Santa, the Vdlp/Sanabrés is unlikely to experience crunches. Some like to reserve ahead, just for the security of knowing where they’ll be sleeping, but I don’t think it’s necessary. I’d start by reserving the first few days if you are nervous about it. But remember that no reservations are accepted in the municipal albergues - Salamanca, Calzada de Valdunciel (a very cute little hobbit house albergue),Zamora, Montamarta, etc. Gronze has an up to date list of places along with info on whether you can reserve or not.

Good luck and don’t worry, this is a great camino! Buen camino, Laurie

The Vdlp is one of my favorites. There is lots of time for solitude and reflection, if that’s what your looking for, but enough pilgrims for company and camraderie in the evening. Though in June-July, I think the pilgrim traffic will be much reduced from what I have experienced several times now in April-May. And it may be much much hotter, which is something to keep in mind.

If you have have more nice places, let me know!

Do you mean nice places to stay? Or places to visit? I think the nicest place from Salamanca northward (other than Salamanca itself) is Zamora, which is one of my favorite cities in Spain. If you love romanesque architecture (I know that not everyone does, though I can’t understand why;)), this is the place for you! Also, a detour to the monastery at Granja de Moreruela, about 4 kms outside the town, is a five-star romanesque attraction. The monastery is in ruins, but the apses are just gob-smacking.They’ve done a lot of work to renovate and preserve, and it is now more visited than the first time I went there in about 2008.

The Sanabrés is so dffferent from the Salamanca to Granja de Moreruela portion, it is hilly, much more forested, lots of beautiful little spots.

As others have said: The VdlP is a fantastic Camino. Beware of a couple of long days that need some planning. I never had trouble getting a bed in albergues (April/May). I would not like to walk there in July: The district of Extremadura (Extremely hard, in English, bc of high temperatures) is likely to be very hot. FWIW, If I were you I wol\uld start early April...

Nice places:

Merida, with its Roman remains (lots of them, here is just one). But it is south of Salamanca...
Salamanca (easy access by train from Atosha station in Madrid) having a larger and higher Plaza Mayor than Madrid; it is the largest in Spain.
Zamora
but also many others. Nice villages/towns along this way.

Buen Camino.

I walked from Zamora to Santiago last year in June/July, there was no problem finding accommodation anywhere. I'm sure you'll be fine. Buen Camino!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
