Time of past OR future Camino
2015
Eventually the time has arrived for our walk ! My son and I will be starting from Ourense on 15 May 2015 after planning and researching for nearly a year. We are praying for good weather and will be looking out for the other pilgrims on route. Should anybody have any new information we will appreciate it very much hearing from them. Sonnie and Frederik Jansen, South Africa.

Hi there,
I've just finished my Camino from Sevilla and passed through Ourense, and I have one recommendation that I want to share :)
There are some great thermal baths in Ourense, many of them free, and you can get information in the tourist office about each one's thermal properties, temperature, etc.
The best ones though were Outariz, and they were SO good that I ended up staying in Ourense a few more days cause I was injured it was so restorative... Lots of different pools and waterfalls and jet streams and they really worked wonders on my sprained ankle and aching back! It felt like pure luxury and only cost 5.50, which seems really cheap for how much cleaner and more luxurious the whole place was. I went to some of the free baths too but they just didn't seem worth going to once I'd discovered the best ones! There's a tram that goes there regularly from plaza mayor, it's definitely worth it. I hope you enjoy :)

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Thank you so much, Elin. We will definitely not miss this.

No worries! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Buen Camino!

I'm so envious! I loved this route at almost exactly the same time last year. Have a wonderful Camino!

Thank you so much, Tyrrek. So good to get such positive feedback regarding the route. I am sure Frederik and I will have a wonderful time. We will be thinking of all the pilgrims walking the route before us !

Hi Tyrrek, we were just discussing the fact that you walked the route the same time last year and wondered what the weather was like. I know weather is rather unpredictable, but knowing more or less what to prepare for would be good. Have you been using gaiters on rainy days or could one get by without them. I also assume the nights will still be quite chilly. Thank you so much for any information you can share. Sonnie and Frederik

Hi Sonnie. It was great walking weather last year. I started on 7th May, and it was generally fairly bright and warm. I think we had a couple of showers, but overall we were lucky. A few very short parts of the route were a bit muddy, but nothing that reasonably waterproof boots couldn't manage. All in all it was a great trip. The hardest part is finding the way out of Ourense and the climb out of the valley for the next few kms. Take your time with that. After that it's a nice pastoral walk. The monastery at Oseira is a must. Buen Camino!

I think I’m on day 12, so not quite two weeks in. Thus far the VDLP is definitely a different animal than the CF. And I have to say, I’m struggling to enjoy it as much as the CF last year. I...
