Walking over Easter?

I'm planning to do my first Camino next Spring, I have the benefit of having a couple of extra days off work over the Easter weekend each year, so in terms of not using too much of my holiday allowance this would be a great time to do my Camino. I was wondering however, do things shut down over the Easter period? Especially since it is a religious holiday, do shops/restaurants/hostels tend to close for a few days?

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

I had walked the del Norte during that time and yes places close down over the weekend. It's not to bad thought just be sure you stock up on food and water so you are not left short.

Hi I started walking the CF over Easter and any slight inconvenience caused by shops being shut etc was more than compensated for by the wonderful celebrations of Santa Semana-from a cappella perfection in Pamplona on Holy Thursday evening, early morning serenades on Easter Saturday at Estellla to full on Easter mass with a parade of palanquins at Los Arcos and the town dignitaries decked out in all their aquamarine glory……go it's just brilliant!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Thanks folks, some great advice there. Seems like it would just require an extra bit of planning but overall I would be in for a treat with the celebrations!

I was in Puenta la Reina in Apr 2010. It must have been a sign of being a peligrino that I had carefully packed up all the stuff that I didn´t want to carry, either because it had served its purpose or because there wasn't going to be a purpose, and expected the post office to be open - on Easter Sunday. I had deliberately left the albergue later than my companions at the time, and wandered down to the panaderia to have desayuno, when it suddenly dawned on me that I was going to be carrying that parcel not just to Estella, but also on to Los Arcos.
