Starting from Le Puy there are 2 ways to reach St- Privat l'Allier, one with the white and red signalisation 24 kms and another one called the ''historic'' with yellow signs (20kms). I would like to Know if someone has already been walking that historic way?

I don't know anything about that route, but I took this photo not far from Le Puy. As you can see there are several different PR routes with yellow balises on these signs, so you would need to find out the specific name of the route you want. Once you reached Le Puy I imagine the Tourist Office would help you find the information: I found them very helpful.

As I recall, this is one of the variants displayed in MMD. After you come up the hill from Le Puy, the route comes up to a 'T' junction, where the red/white markings go left and the variant goes right. My group was still a bit jet-lagged at that point, so we just followed the herd. However, there was not anything particularly memorable to be seen on the 'main' route on that section. One could take the shorter variant route safely, I suspect.

I will point out that the GR65 route is not 'cast in stone'; it changes a bit from year to year, depending on the input from local towns, local gites, etc etc. So this is evidently a remnant of one of these earlier changes.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Now that I am on the way, I am at Moissac just now, I can answer myself to the question : the historic way is very interessting,( there is a beautifull churc at the Bains,) shorter and has also much more forest trail. I recommend that way.

Is the historic way well sign posted?

Thanks for your update now for a subjective question - Google Earth shows the walk out of Le Puy towards Bains to be lined with what appears to be industry and wharehouses true? One also misses the Romanesque church in Saint Christophe sur Dolaison. A peek on the net shows that neither church, Bains nor SCsD should be missed. Easy enough to see them both, MMD shows them only 5-6k apart, going up the road through Lesbineyres and Augeac. Has anyone gone up this Yellow Brick Road? I will probably do it anyway but I would like to hear from one who has been there and done that.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Yes the historic way is well signs posted.
On a subjective note, one of my strongest moment on the Camino was in that chuch in Bains.

Oooh, I'm glad I found this thread, and hope it is not poor etiquette to bump it.

My thoughts are similar. I would like to walk to Saint-Christophe-sur-Dolaison, swing back up to Bains then onto Gite de Velay for the night. The next day it is a reasonable (and from what many here have said scenic) walk to Montrisol. However, this may mean skipping Montbonnet. Montbonnet wouldn't add much distance to the walk, but I really want to know if the town is a must see. Walking through the forest after Bains sounds so pleasant that the steep part may be worth it.
