Winter walking

I ran across this piece of kit the other day and I think its worthy of a mention.
I am adding this to the kit that stays in my rucksack year round for walking and mountain biking. The bag is an upgrade on the basic space blanket we all carry (?) in the winter and yes its another few grams to carry for something you are never going to need – hopefully

A very useful link, I have 'bookmarked' it. We still have our foil blanket which we bought 20+ years ago - still in its original packing so rather 'old tech' now - OK for summer maybe. The Blizzard products certainly look good for the sort of weather we are getting at the moment whether walking or travelling by car.

Tia, I have found that foil blankets gets old and shred, even in its original bag. Probably from being compressed and rubbed side to side in the rucksack.
I suggest you check yours. It would be a shame to get it out when it is needed and find it not useable.

another thing to note: foil blankets are NOISY. Your fellows in the albergue may be very aware every time your roll over.

Yes, I wasn't thinking of using the old foil blanket. I think it is 'past its sell by date' apart from any noise etc. Just thinking 'better safe than sorry' and glad we had never had to use it.

Talking about this topic, some pilgrims will walk this weekend between Astorga and Ponferrada. I use to walk it every winter.

Laurie knows my sister, and Rebekah also knows Milio and Yeya, in this small group.

Weather will be quite cold, with some snow predictions even in Astorga.
