Yes, they certainly have!Has anyone used the Wise Pilgrim app?
It’s a good app and well worth the trivial cost.Has anyone used the Wise Pilgrim app? I doing the Camino Portugues at the end of September and wondering if this app could be helpful for booking accommodation and maps? Any other helpful application/tips welcome too. Thanks
The version of Wise Pilgrim I have includes the Litoral Route. I haven't checked it in detail, but there is a track and lists of accommodation at the towns at least for the first day.I installed the Wise Pilgrim again and noticed it doesn't include the Litoral route which I may be on in early October. it's fine, I know my way pretty well here.
Mine does. Isn’t it the blue and mixed with the red?I installed the Wise Pilgrim again and noticed it doesn't include the Litoral route which I may be on in early October. it's fine, I know my way pretty well here.
Bringing a friend on his first Camino, I noticed the Camino Ninja is available for iPhone, not too sure what the new owners have planned. I installed it with .apk file when I got a new phone before it was available. I get and error now at the google play store, looks like the same version so far.
for just maps, I installed Organic Maps and found GPS tracks here:
https://www.santiago.nl/downloads/
The Buen Camino app has never been able to download the offline maps for me completely, just gets stuck.
CaminoTool requires a login with Google, Installed and looking it over.
the end of Sept or very early Oct is a great time to walk! Buen Camino
I'm glad I did sort it out before I left, It seems to be a problem between Google Pay, the app and my phone but you'll probably be okay as you don't have my awkward phone. I had to download it then pay for the full version via my laptop as Google Pay won't recognise my password on my phone, yet it recognises it on my laptop. To be on the safe side, I would download the app before you leave home. I tried to use it in Spain this year, for the VdlP and it wouldn't let me. It wanted me to make a payment, although a French lady I met wasn't asked to make one and when I tried, it wouldn't let me.
I contacted the owner of the site and he sent me some instructions on how to get around this but they didn't work so I had to use two other apps, which were as bad as each other.
I've just decided this morning that I'm going to do the Portuguese, around the same time as you and your post has reminded me to sort out the app before I head off.
Hope to see you along the way.
I highly recommend it. The price is insignificant, compared to the whealth of useful info and options/possibilities. Make sure you download offline maps before leaving home so you won't need wifi in Spain/Portugal.Has anyone used the Wise Pilgrim app? Thank you very much, I've just found out how to download the map and now the little compass icon works. It all looks very comprehensive to me.On the main screen tap the compass symbol in the upper right.

But first you need to download the maps.
I wrote instructions for them in this post: https://www.caminodesantiago.me/com...amino-apps-for-offline-use.82640/post-1174778

Well, I remember first meeting Wise Pilgrim in the albergue in Negreira, at least 15 years ago. I remember thinking at the time — Come on kid (he was VERY young), how can you claim to be wise at such a young age? After all these years, I think he has convinced me. And of course he is 15 years older now, so presumably even wiser than when he started! The Wise Pilgrim's apps are exemplatory in user friendliness, helpfullness, and content/map info/booking, sites info, recommendations, and much more.
Best App. Using it daily. In Fromista now. Map and distance and profile.Has anyone used the Wise Pilgrim app? I doing the Camino Portugues at the end of September and wondering if this app could be helpful for booking accommodation and maps? Any other helpful application/tips welcome too. Thanks
I walked the CP this summer and we used the wise pilgrim to make sure we were on trail from time to time we also used it from time to time to look for accommodation. Perhaps it was on a setting or something we did wrong but it never seemed to show Albergues just hostels or better represented by booking.***. No. When you tap on the name of a town there is a link to booking.com that says "reserve a bed in town name", but scroll down. First there will be some information about the town, then a list of accommodations. You tap on the accommodation name, and if there if they are on booking.com there will be a link, but there is also their contact info if you would rather book direct.Perhaps it was on a setting or something we did wrong but it never seemed to show Albergues just hostels or better represented by booking.***. I have several camino apps loaded, and a couple of general purpose mapping apps. Wise Pilgrim got the nod this year as my preferred specialist app when I needed one. The Gronze app is also worth having if you have an Android phone, otherwise the Gronze website is readily available as well.
No. That sounds a little strange to me. I have it added to a group on the home screen.Hello, I have an Android phone. I have installed the Wise Pilgrim - Portuguese. I can run the app from the Play Store app but I cannot add it to my home screen. Is this how you run the app?
Thank you
That is what I think, the only thing I have not done is to reinstall it.No. That sounds a little strange to me. I have it added to a group on the home screen.
