Variante Montejurra

Hallo I will leave Estella tomorrow. It’s going to be a hot day. I read I could pick the Montejurra variante for more shade but I am not sure. I was completely alone on the (short) way to Eunate. So far there are no hoards of pilgrims so I am bit wary of being alone for a long stretch. What's your experience? Btw so far no booking and beds are available. I will go on with my no booking policy 😀

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

I think if it is really hot, you should stop earlier in the day. If you are not booking, you will have the flexibility and you don't have to go all the way to Los Arcos .. You might ask if anyone (another pilgrim) wants to go the alternate route with you if you have that option and don't want to walk alone. Otherwise if you are not comfortable with it, I would stick with the route where there are more pilgrims.

Update. I did the Montejurra stretch. Beautiful! Probably more hilly than the other. Please check the profile if you are concerned. Definitely worth it. I asked the pilgrim that was looking at the sign with me. Many others followed or proceeded us. So I was not alone. Still quiet and idyllic. And spring makes it special. Glad I trusted my gut feeling and @Pafayac ’s reply 😀
