The Way, inspiration, and the need to go back

This afternoon, watched the movie "The Way" again:
http://www.theway-themovie.com/

Buy the film and watch it, is my recommendation.

I can't help but feel empathy for the main character: Had I lost my own son, I would have been lost myself. But there are so many more light-hearted videos on Youtube to watch (I am writing this for the newbies):

Examples:

There are many more, but you'll see them when you're there: Simply go to www.youtube.com and search for Camino Santiago.

My planning for my next Camino has begun. For the new ones: Jump. It will change your life, in a good way, although you do not know about it yet. It has to be experienced. Simply join in, and then, you are a part of it.

Buen Camino! (Good way!)
Ultreia! (Go on!)

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Thank you Walker.
It is with a smile I respond to you, that we have to dare to bring the things we need into our lives.
I am reminded that I have to dare more.
Seek the unknown which will make me evolve and grace life in new ways.

Buen Camino on your next adventure.

I saw the movie after I had walked 3 Caminos. I didn´t like it very much. It used lots of topics about the Camino.
While I watched it I could´t help thinking about another movie ( a very good by the way) - Little Big Man with Dustin Hoffman.
In that movie Dustin Hoffman is a very old man ( 100 years old I think) who had been at the Battle of Little Big Horn being
interviewed by a young reporter. In one moment Dustin says…….. "We were playing Indians……… we WERE Indians!".

Buen Camino!

As Alex recommends to those considering their 1st Camino: JUMP. A couple of years after I took up hiking 7 years ago, I started to think about doing the Camino in one is its many guises about 2020 when I would hope to retire, I now find myself making plans for my 3rd Camino in 3 years starting next June and the plan includes bringing 3 women Camino novices along for the company.
Once experienced the Camino has a wonderous way of working it's way under your skin and the only way of easing the itch in my case is to start planning my next Camino. :)

Can you hear the silent, distant whisper in your heart and mind, calling you back to The Way, Seamus? I can...

I quit my job to embark on the camino. And I would do it again. Whether this just says I haven't found the job I want or not I don't know, but the camino has this pull. I often wonder about the other side of things though, that I might be hoping it compares with my first time. Would it live up to everything it was before? Etc.

The film the Way I thought was a sweet little thing. I watched it before my trip and then after. I got a bit blurry eyed both times but far more after. There was some dust or something in my eye, honest.

I made a videoblog for my trip. If you YouTube Luke Darracott you can watch them. I get pangs of nostalgia so I don't watch them very often. Then there are all the photos and the writing... I can't escape it!!

I endeavour to return!

Luke,
Thanks for your Youtube clips: I thoroughly enjoyed them all: brought back many fond memories, and will repeat the Frances next spring. I will even try to adopt your wine habits, although I am already pretty good at it...;) And yes, on occations there may be some dust in my house too;)

You didn't have the best of weather at all times: When I did the Frances, I only had 1/2 day of drizzle, the rest sun in 30 days. On the other hand, last year on the VdlP in May, out of 23 days, I had 19 with partly strong rain and wind, and 2 days of snow in mountain passes! 4 days of sunshine and swimming in Finisterre, though. :)

About ignorant/early wakeup pilgrims: I have plenty of time, so if I come across those, I will take short days and let them pass forward.:p

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Thanks Alex! Means a lot! It was a lot of hard work to do those videos! And yes, wine made talking to the camera easier at times.

The weather I got was pretty brutish but being British I didn't mind it so much as complaining is against my nature so I just sucked it up ;). But seriously, I quite enjoyed the variation. I rather think I would hate to do it in summer though. I also may well strangle people so it is probably best I'm kept away.

I have it in mind one day to start in Santander and then do the primitivo. That could grant me some more tasty weather.
