Disaster!
Yesterday, I discovered that I'd washed my passport in the washing machine - the photo is no more.
Off to Peterborough passport office this morning. Unfortunately because it is a damaged passport, they will only guarantee a new one within 7 days. I leave on Monday so it will be bended knee for me.
Trying not to stress........too much!

Sorry to hear that Rich1, hope you get it sorted.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
If there are any NZers around with passport difficulties I can definitely recommend the staff at the NZ High Commission in Sydney. I stuffed up my calculations on how much time was left on my passport when I went to Bali for a sports competition last year and was 6 days short of having 6 months left on the damn thing. So I wasn't allowed on my flight out of Darwin. Urgent flight to Sydney overnight and I had a new passport before lunchtime and flew out on the first afternoon flight. But at least it meant that my passport is brand spanking new for this trip!

Could mean a trip to London passport office if you book an appointment you should be able to get it sorted in 4hrs...

Good luck

Unfortunately, for a damaged passport they only offer a guaranteed 7 day service. However, I did explain what I was doing etc, and generally begged, and the lady said they generally get them out quickly.
Basically, fingers crossed now

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
It certainly is, Al ;)
The best laid plans etc......

Good luck. I hope all works out for you.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

I hope you will get a replacement one in due time.
Just one of the trials we have to face.
But once you're on your way...the Camino will definitely provide.
Buen Camino!

Relax. It's not a disaster. You'll get through this just fine. I have lots of passport stories after traveling around the world for almost two years. Nothing that couldn't be dealt with in a relatively short period of time. Just practice walking in the meantime...and breathe.

To say I was relieved is an understatement - I am now truly excited.

Not sure how it works in the U.K. but I was getting ready in 2012 and checked my passport the day before leaving. It had expired. I live in Chicago and went down to the Federal building. I only had to produce my Itinerary and the usual stuff. They expedited a passport for me in roughly two hours. Fortunately, I live in a Major metropolitan area and was able to get access to a passport facility. The key was bringing in my itinerary. Best of luck.

Great news, especially after the stories last year of horrendous delays? Buen Camino Rich. I think you have had baptism of fire and hope all goes well from now on.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
