Buddhist complex with giant statue planned for Cáceres

Too many and too often!
A novel addition to the Via de la Plata is being planned. Details have been announced for a substantial Buddhist complex to be built in Cáceres: monastery, garden, stupa, and a 40 metre Buddha statue. Linked to a twinning arrangement between Cáceres and Lumbini. Having visited both places I can say that I enjoyed both but I don't immediately see the resemblance

Kill two birds with one stone: put this Buddhist center on the (ugly, dangerous) way to Casar de Cáceres and mark the Camino through it, away from traffic, and surrounded by beautiful gardens. That would be something!

@Bradypus, you find the darndest things. Truth is stranger than fiction.

Me neither. 🙃

I fail to understand the appeal of giant Buddha statues...but never mind. Lots of people obviously like them. So yeah, it could be an 'attraction,' as much for its weirdness in that context as anything else. And walking through a garden sure beats the shoulder of a busy road.
