Luggage logistics in case of change of plans

Time of past OR future Camino
August 2024 (planned)
I’m planning to send to Santiago a smaller bag with things I need for the flight, extra days pre/post Camino, and whatever else I decide that I won’t need. I could send it from Roncesvalles, Pamplona, etc. So far, so good…I understand these items can be stored at Ivar’s?

What if, during the Camino, I need to abruptly change my plans and go home early? Say I’m walking the Meseta and I need to fly home for an emergency, what happens to the bag that’s waiting for me in Santiago? I may not be able to go to Santiago to pick it up, can it be sent to somewhere in Madrid where I can pick it up? Or can it be sent to the US separately?
Worst case scenario, I could simply leave it behind, as I’m not planning to have anything expensive in it, but I”m curious what’s the best way to deal with a scenario like this.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

You might trip over a kerb on your way to the Correos in Pamplona and your parcel would never get sent. Seriously, as a professional catastrophizer (auditor) I would say that you have addressed the risk and identified appropriate resolutions. Any of the solutions you've suggested would be applicable. Apply the most appropriate if the scenario manifests.

Happy planning ;)

OMG! Now I’m worried! I’ll be up at night, staring at the ceiling, trying to plan for how to handle unexpected kerb encounters! 😝😆🤪
Seriously, I’m well-versed in catastrophizing, because “I Over-Think, Therefore I Am”

If you send to me I can send it anywhere you want later. I ship with DHL.
We plan to walk the Camino Francis starting in September. If we wanted to send a bag to you, Ivar, where would we send it?

Thanks,

Dave
