I understand that the Cathedral de Santiago have launched an App that acts as your credencial that you scan along the way instead of using the paper/stamps type. I’m planning to do the Portuguese Camino again and an wondering if anybody has experience of this App and how its working on the ground?
Hello forum members.
Just looking for a bit of help and advice. Has anybody walked the Norte at the end of October/beginning of November? I have scope to walk 10 days and am looking for advice as regards a starting and finishing point. I fly into Santander and my initial idea is to take a bus...
I've completed the Frances, the Primitivo and the Portaguese and am currently doing light training for the Ingles. The best piece of advice I got before doing the first one was 'don't do a camino before you do a camino' While some bit of training with your rucksack is good to get the muscles...
Hello forum members,
I'm planning to walk the stages of the Via Francigena from Lucca to Siena. I would be grateful for any information on hostel/albergue accommodation along the way. What can I expect to pay? Is it necessary to book in advance? Are many bed spaces available? What's the...
I began my Camino in the second week of April having previously walked in May and September. I was expecting the route to be quieter however there are a lot of pilgrims at the moment. I'm now in Ponferrada with about 8 days to Santiago. Albergues in the main stage ends are busy. The...
Thanks for the updates NomadBoomer. I will begin the CF next week. It's always good to have updates from pilgrims currently on route particularly in relation to crowds/hotspots. Please keep on posting. Buen Camino.
Hi STLperegrino. The return bus from Muxia also stops in Santiago city centre so you could alight in the city if you wish. It goes on from there to the bus terminal which is located about 20 minutes walk from the centre. The airport bus leaves Plaza de Galicia every 30 mins on the half hour...
Hi Julia,
As I see it you have a number of options but firstly to mention that SJPP and Pamplona are on the Camino Frances and Bilbao is on the Camino del Norte which has a different starting point. That's not to say you couldn't do some of the Frances and then bus it to Bilbao for your...
You could take the bus to either Finisterre or Muxia....walk the 30KM from one to the other and get the bus back to Santiago. Muxia is beautiful particularly the area around the church at the edge of the ocean.
Hi Stefania,
There is a very good website called www.gronze.com that gives details of all Camino routes...stages, albergues, elevations etc. The site is in Spanish, however, if you open Google Translate, type in the web address, in the drop down box type 'Italian' and you will read all the...
Greetings from Ireland. Nice to know that you have climbed Croagh Patrick, it's something that I have done in preparation for previous Camino's and a good one to have under your belt in preparation for the Pyranees. Sounds as if you have everything covered......booking accommodation in SJPP...
I was due to begin my Camino from SJPP at the beginning of September but because of illness I have to postpone for a few weeks. Just interested to know from pilgrims that are currently on the way how busy it is at the moment and if there is any difficulty getting a bed in an Albergue....if so...
Sounds as if that could be a very expensive journey. Just a suggestion as regards an alternative to see if it would cost less..... Ryanair from Madrid to Dublin on 19th Sept at 20.40 is €44. There are several buses with Alsa running from Pamplona to Madrid Airport - terminal 4 on that day...
