Hello All,
This will be our third Camino as a family. Our first two were done in 200-mile sections. The children were much younger! This time they will be 12 and 14 years old. Looking to begin Mid April. Ay thoughts as to crossing the Pyrenees during that time? Possible snow? Looks like there...
Hello All!
As we prepare for our third trek across the Camino, I wanted to get ideas and thoughts on how the Camino Frances Route has changed in the past few years. We covered the first 250 miles with our then 6 and 8 year old (2011). Then we returned with our 8 and 10 year old (2013) to over...
We just happened to walk past Casa de Abuelo on the way into Hornillos. The owner came out and greeted us. We got a private room, $10 per person which included a private shower, use of a brand new kitchen, and a comfy new dinning room and living room, don't miss it if you have to stay there. She...
I just had to share this. After a week of bread and soup we were ready for something different :) We came across a tiny restaurant near the cathedral called "Made in Italy". It only has 5 tables and the owner/chef/server takes your order, makes the dough and cooked the pizza in the same room! An...
Hello All!
Our journey continues in Burgos in just 2 weeks! My concern is how difficult it is to dry our clothes in the colder weather if no sun shines?
On our last journey it was warm and we easily dried our clothes in the warmth of the sun :) With two children we have 4 sets of clothes to...
Hello!
Any recommendations for Burgos for a family of four? We come in by bus from Madrid at 2pm and leave the next morning so our stay will be short. Looking for a comfortable place along the Camino. Thinking Abba Burgos Hotel :)
Best,
Mandy
Hello All!We traveled from St. Jean to Burgos in September and are looking to travel Burgos to Santiago starting March 14th. I am expecting colder and wet weather however I was curious on the availability of the alberques? Are they open as they are in the fall? We took our 8 and 10 year old...
Hello!
Does anyone have a link that would show if there is an age restriction on receiving the compostela for children 7 and 9?
Heard that there is an alternative certificate if they have not been through their first communion.
All the best,
Mandy
Hello All!
We are leaving in two weeks for St. Jean. Wanted to see what others were doing in order to prepare their money...
Rates are high here in USA to exchange before we leave and out bank charges 3.5% plus $5 per transaction. Any ideas to get a better exchange rate?
All the best!

Hello All!
So, Ryan Air is causing me a bit of grief. I have attempted to purchase tickets from Santiago to Madrid and it shuts down every time at the payment stage ARg! I also had a travel agent attempt to handle it and she is running into the same difficulty.
Any thoughts on how to travel to...
We are arriving into St. jean at 530pm by train. Our hotel does not offer the passport but said another local hostel does. What time do the hostels close? We wanted to start early the next day but are unsure if we can get the passport in the late evening the night before.
All the best,
Buen...

Buen Camino,
Mandy :D
Hello All!
We will be traveling with our two children on the Camino. They will be turning 7 and 9, any thoughts on how to surprise them with something special along the trip?

Hello All!
We are arriving in St. Jean August 31st. We will be traveling with two children and are unsure how long the Camino will take us. We are going to attempt the 33 day time frame however I feel we will make a few stops and may take more like 36 days. We have a travel agent assisting us...
Hello All! :D
We will be traveling from St Jean leaving the last week of August and ending first week in October. We will have two small children with us and I am concerned about getting into Hotels or B&B's. We do not want to disturb other travelers in the hostels and therefore will be...
Hello All! :D
I have read how the first two days from St Jean are the most challenging. We have talked about this in detail and hope we are prepared. Our plan is to prepare the day before by pre packing food and getting plenty of rest. Our children will be 7 and 9 years old during the Camino...
