Accomodation in Logrono this Friday

Hi there,

We're (2 ppl) flying into Madrid on Friday midday and then getting a coach to Logrono to start our Camino (arrive just after 7) do you think we will have trouble finding somewhere to stay? We were hoping to get to Madrid Cathedral between noon and 3 to pick up a credential so that we could start using the aulbergues when we arrive. Ideally we'd like to find somewhere cheap and will also have a tent so could camp if needed. Will places be open to find accomodation after 7? (Or later if coach gets held up!) Any suggestions?

Is it "ok" to stay at aulbergues on your first night? (ie, not frown upon that you didn't start the route further back).

Also, if we can't get a Credential in Madrid can we get one in Logrono? At a church or the aulbergues?

Any advice most welcome!

Welcome to the forum!

Just as an FYI, this Friday is May 1st (a holiday in Spain) and many Spaniards (and other Europeans) uses this 3 day weekend to travel. This again, means that things can get busy.

If you decide not to go with the albergue, have a look at some hostels/pensions here.

Greetings from Santiago,

For a comprehensive list of hotels in Logroño (or any other town or village of your choice on the camino), try: mundicamino.com.
For English, hit the British flag, then "Way of St. James" (first on list of the different Caminos)
Go to stage number 8: Logroño
Go to Lodgings
You will get a list of hotels and pensions. Hit the little "house" symbol (next to the word Logroño) with an H in it. This will give you an individual card index of each activity, often with a load of information.
We have used the Pension Numantina twice and it was very central and OK.
