advice walking from st john de port to santiago

Carl, when are you going to do your Camino and where are you traveling from?

I've found the best method for walking is to put one foot in front of the other. None of that sideways shuffling nonsense! Or backwards, just... no! Repeat this motion about a million times or until reach Santiago, whichever comes first.

Anybody at all can get to Santiago by his method, its those sideways steps, the shuffles, and the backwards - did Ireally just see that? which make the Camino worth walking! Flip through the Brierley guide book for ideas, look good around the forum, find what really interests you, and research it out. Me? Try "The Pilgrimage Road to Santiago: The Complete Cultural Handbook" by David Gitlitz and Linda Kay Davidson, available from Amazon as a large and bulking "handbook" or in kindal format, everything you want to know beyond albergues, restaurants, and walking distances, beauty, art, history, and architecture on every page! The best advise I can give you is to use this forum to it's fullest. It is the best resource for all your questions prior to going. You get information at your finger tips for journey from people that have not only experienced this amazing Camino once, but some take this journey yearly! Besides this advise, this is what I learned-1) Buy a Guide. 2) Don't over plan your journey because it will not always turn out the way you planned. 3) if you are starting in SJPD, reserve early your stay in the town. 4) Don't over pack. 5) Don't send anything home except for postcards. 6) Take your time when walking. Enjoy your journey and the wonderful people you will meet. 7) take care of your feet. It is a journey that will linger in your memory and in your heart long after you are back at home.

hi sorry for delay i am going 15th of march in bout 8 weeks time going for 40 days, i come form uk south wales in the valleys..

40 days are plenty for the CF if you are a reasonably fit person. Did you had a good read through the forum here? If yes, we are more than happy to answer any specific questions you might still have. Also 'must see places' depends a lot on what YOU are interested in. So tell us a bit more about yourself and Buen Camino! SY
