Albergues in Roncesvalles

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Well, first of all I think you can book your bed at the albergue Roncesvalles in advance. There are also hotels there, from 40-60 Euro's per night. Or carry on walking to Burgette 3km further on, there is no albergue there but a variety of other accommodation. Next albergue after Roncesvalles is at Espinal 6.7 km from Roncesvalles.

To be honest I never have found the albergue in Roncesvalles full, but I have heard others have.

Sitting in the albergue foyer now at 15:12 and there is constant stream of arrivals. Best to book and include dinner and breakfast.

Hola @Eager beavers

Welcome to the forum. What kind of time do you hope to arrive? Any time before 2pm I'd say you have no worries, after 3pm it may get a bit tight, at least that's my estimation based on my last couple of trips.

Buen Camino,

Rob.

I found that to pay, you need to do so from the Spanish page, not English page. Buen Camino. I'll be there in 4 weeks, too.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Just leave SJPdP early. We left around 9am on Sept 17, 2016, and when we got to Roncesvalles eight hours later there was no room at the albergue. We were put in the overflow crates and just barely got a bed in one of those. The dining options were also really packed. We laugh heartily about the whole experience now but we definitely weren't laughing at the time.Screen Shot 2017-04-30 at 12.56.58 PM.jpg
