I notice that most of the albergues close for winter on October 31st. Is there a particular day that they generally open for the season again?

Or for the Easter, mostly on behalf of Spanish pilgrims who walk in large numbers in that week.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Here is a list of those towns and cities:
I know that I am not supposed to be critical or negative, but that list is flawed. I see three towns off the top where there is no open albergue in winter. The list is better than Eroski or Mundicamino, but it is not perfect.

I have never seen an accurate list, and if one is created, it will become obsolete shortly after it is published. To find accurate closure information you will need to call ahead when you are actually walking. Hospitaleros do not sit around waiting for the occasional pilgrim (I know we are special people, but we are not THAT special), so even albergues that are owner-occupied may close on a whim. Xunta albergues may need a phone call to open; do not count on anyone answering the phone evenings or weekends. Even better, be willing to use transportation when you find closures. The earth will not open and swallow you if you do so.;)

Sharing and updating information should never be considered being critical or negative! If you'd be willing to share what you know, falcon, I will happily update the list to the benefit of everyone. Thanks :)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Your website disclaimer about the list echos my concept -- things change, call ahead. My specifics would not make the list more or less accurate in light of that caveat.:)

The Eunate albergue is now a meditation center, by the way...

Practically all the albergues reopens on the 1st of april. On easter, most will open earlier.

Falcon is correct. On xunta albergues in the off season or regular season, usually no hospitaleros are present on site. However there is a telephone number to ccall posted at the door. The permanent hospitaleros usually live closeby. Others xunta albergues are run either by civil protection personnel f the pueblos.

Buen camino.
