Hi everyone, I'm doing my first Camino in September (starting August 31st). I'm just wondering about the other little towns along the way. I know most people stop the night in Pamplona but I'd rather not stay in the city. Are there any nice little towns a little further along that you would recommend to stay instead? I don't mind how small or basic it is. Thanks heaps!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I would recommend Albergue San Andres in Zariguieque. Stayed there in May, very clean, 10 euros for B and B, dinner 10 euros more.

Beware though it is 18km from Pamplona not the 10km you might have read.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
The 18km was measured from Pamplona by a Canadian with his Garmin.

He got it wrong, then! It is closer to 11km; Uterga is about 18km past Pamplona, and includes both the up and the down to the Alto de Perdon. I have walked it seven times, and know my speed and stride length for my pedometer. My experience agrees with the various maps and guides.;)

Hi Trexicles,
The albergue "Cizur Menor" just the other side of Pamplona is just fine, kitchen, small shop nearby, and when I was there in 2011 Senora Miribel held a clinic treating pilgrims blisters etc!
regards
George

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
My GPS track from near the cathedral was 12.2km, with just under 1 km of graceful variation adding to the route, so around 11 to 11.5km if one took a more direct route than I did. I can see some variation depending upon the start point in Pamplona, but not eight km. Alternatively, there was a very graceful variation from the more direct route
