American citizens vaccinated will be allowed to enter France beginning of May
Good new
Thanks for the link Ivar .. I was a bit too enthusiastic maybe after reading this quick breaking new which didn’t have too many details obviouslyHere is one...
Macron says France "finalizing" plans to ease restrictions for vaccinated travelers
France is in its third country-wide lockdown as it confronts another surge in coronavirus infections.www.cbsnews.com
I had a quick look and it sounds like it is something that they are seriously considering, but it does not sound like it is a sure thing. Either way, soon things will open up. In France and Spain.
My first shot ( Pfizer !) Tuesday Yeah!!Thanks for the link Ivar .. I was a bit too enthusiastic maybe after reading this quick breaking new which didn’t have too many details obviously
It s good also to check https://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/fr/venir-en-france/ which is updated and with the official infos ( might b in English too
You are doing great!I asked for a show of hands this morning at Mass in my rural Virginia USA church "Have you gotten your shots yet?" And, so far as I could see, every hand in the place went up. Very encouraging.
Watch out, world!
Here in Australia vaccinations are proceeding very slowly. There appears to be very little chance of a Camino for us in 2021.Wow - great news for Americans. I’m sure bookings are filling fast !
They have done well with their vaccination program.
I will follow enviously from a distance.
Do you live in the Dordogne? We are planning on being there in September if the vaccinated rule holds! Also will be looking for property in the Dordogne.I live in SW France and have my second vaccine mid-may - it was a slow start in France but they seem to be picking up pace now and most of my friends have had their first jab or an appointment for it. My little group of friends will all be sorted with both shots by June. I am certainly hopeful that I'll be walking somewhere this summer!
My 'day' job is as a singer and I've not worked since March last year BUT we have a weekly contract with a Bordeaux cruise where the clients are 90% North American... and the cruiseline has indicated that we may start again in August. It feels like such a long time ago that we were performing... I hope I haven't forgotten how
But having a fairly normal life in your country and lower death counts may be a good tradeoff. Here in Australia vaccinations are proceeding very slowly. There appears to be very little chance of a Camino for us in 2021.

Kind words appreciated, but the fact remains that two recent polls show 25-30% of USA residents are planning to wait at least 3 months to one year to get vaccinated. As a volunteer at a vaccine clinic, I can tell you (anecdotally, not scientifically) that each week we are having unfilled appointments, beginning about two weeks ago. The initial rush of people who really wanted the vaccine is nearing the point where we now must convince the sceptics to get the jab in the arm. It is necessary to get that last cohort of Americans vaccinated so we can reach "herd immunity" (which is around 80% of the populace being vaccinated).Wow - great news for Americans. Do you have a link for this, please?
As a retired cruise ship captain, I sure hope you and the rest of the cursing world gets back to work very, very soon.I live in SW France and have my second vaccine mid-may - it was a slow start in France but they seem to be picking up pace now and most of my friends have had their first jab or an appointment for it. Sorry for jumping on the new without checking enough please forgive me ! ... I just felt so enthusiastic too !! I should have verify the info better ...When I read the first post I was ready to go to the Delta (the airline I almost always fly) immediately and make flight reservations for May. Glad I read on. But here's hoping that it's sometime soon. In the meantime I'll start brushing up my French; fortunately I'm bilingual in Spanish, so I don't need to work on that.
Don't feel bad - It is very difficult to verify every news story!Sorry for jumping on the new without checking enough please forgive me ! ... I just felt so enthusiastic too !! I should have verify the info better ...

In that case, we Americans could freely hike from SJPdP to Roncesvalles?Coronavirus : Macron « lèvera progressivement » les restrictions d’entrée sur le territoire français début mai

You could indeed, subject of course to Spains view of the situation. While the French may be happy to see a vaccinated American in Paris the Spanish may not be so chuffed about one in Navarra. We remain in wait & see mode.In that case, we Americans could freely hike from SJPdP to Roncesvalles?
Roncesvalles?? is in Spain. Will be a short walk than.In that case, we Americans could freely hike from SJPdP to Roncesvalles?
Your technical skills are fine. You have indeed posted a link to the site.Coming to France? Your Covid-19 questions answered
French people who are living abroad, travelling or returning from abroad, as well as visitors from abroad, will find answers below to frequently (…)www.diplomatie.gouv.fr
( Apologies, I am technically inadequate... and though this is the site, it is not a link!)
This Canadian thanks you!Makes me crazy my neighbors just across the border are struggling in Canada. I can wait until everyone who wants a shot gets one.
More practical reasons why Canada is struggling with vaccines:Personally I pray the US will share the vaccine with our world brothers & sisters. This can only go away if the shots get into arms. We have the product but we can’t hoard it while we wait for those who can’t find the time to go get it. Makes me crazy my neighbors just across the border are struggling in Canada. I can wait until everyone who wants a shot gets one. Much bigger than my desire to get back on the Camino.
Thank you for your concern for Canadians. We are continuing to vaccinate in Alberta, although we frequently run out of vaccines. We have got down to giving first doses to persons aged 30 and up willing to accept a less popular vaccine, but have once again run out; deliveries to Canada of another vaccine are halted for the moment. However, I believe that we have had a lower death rate in Canada than in the U.S. and feel sorrow for your losses. This pandemic is a challenge which we all face as best we can. I hope that we are reaching the end, at least, in the developed countries. Many countries are closed to Canadians at present but I shall go on camino when I have received my second dose of vaccine and am welcome in Spain.Personally I pray the US will share the vaccine with our world brothers & sisters. I think that in the US the supply will soon outstrip demand because of those who will refuse it. I hope that it will find its way into the arms of Canadians and those in other countries who need it to stop this scourge.Thank you for your concern for Canadians. Yes, it is what I use to do generally !!!Don't feel bad - It is very difficult to verify every news story! My approach is to read an item, note that it is interesting, and then go to other sources to see what they say. Then I wait (with some skepticism) until some consensus seems to appear.
Fully vaccinated Americans will be able to vacation in the EU this summer, European Commission president tells New York TimesThis article just came across my news, but I cannot read it as I do not subscribe to the NY Times. Perhaps someone does or it is published elsewhere as well:

Sorry couldn't resist.
Well it seems the border is open we have a daily open mall area that is walk in. You are always welcome to stay with us Alberta girl, if you want the second shot earlier. Send me a PM if you are interested or if you have any family 18or older. If you or anyone you know is interested I will go over to the shot clinic & verify if they have any restrictions. & what type of shots are available.Thank you for your concern for Canadians. What??!!!Well it seems the border is open
How kind. I don't know if the border is open, to other than cross-border truckers. But I have just seen a very encouraging news clip about the governor of North Dakota. Having had all his residents vaccinated, he has opened his vaccination system to North Dakota/Manitoba cross-border truckers. About 400 have been vaccinated so far. The premier of Saskatchewan is apparently exploring the possibility that this be extended to North Dakota/Saskatchewan cross-border truckers. And significant quantities of the AstraZenika vaccine have been "loaned" to the Canadian government by the U.S., which has not yet approved its use there. So the vaccines are coming into Canada, or Canadian arms, thanks to the great ongoing relationships which we have with our neighbours to the south. And thanks very much.Well it seems the border is open we have a daily open mall area that is walk in. You are always welcome to stay with us Alberta girl, if you want the second shot earlier. Having had my first shot, I feel safe for the present and hopeful that my second will come by the end of July, if not sooner: lots of time to make bookings for a September camino in Spain. And "Buen camino" to all.
I have wondered this same thing, myself. We are planning to cross over from SJPDP...I guess that tells me you arn’t a trucker
Back to the topic of French allowing non European folks into France. Anyone? Has Spain put security on the crossing points such as the trail from Pied de port to Roncevalleas Or the crossing points from Portugal into Spain?
Maybe they are going on the honor system? In other words, if the border is closed that people will be honorable and respect it.Back to the topic of French allowing non European folks into France. This has been mentioned and discussed in various threads. However, we are watching the discussions for suggestions that violating the border restrictions is acceptable. It is not acceptable to cross a closed border (especially when that information is widely broadcast) simply because no one is looking.I have wondered this same thing, myself.
