In one of my earlier posts, I thanked you all for comments/answers provided to this wonderful site.
Now I need your assistance. I will be starting on the Camino Frances, commencing in Irun. I have made contact with the only Albergue in the centre of Irun to hold a place for me but was not able. My flight lands in Barcelona at 7:30. I miss the early morning train of 7:30 and need to wait in Barcelona for the 3:30pm train. Can anyone tell me if the Albergue in Irun is full around 6 July? Or should I be seeking a booking elsewhere. I noticed that there is another Albergue 3km out of town.
Thank you all for your assistance.

Gracias - Sarita

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Sarita,

According to the Eroski listing the pilgrim albergue in Irun does NOT take reservations. See >> http://caminodesantiago.consumer.es./ho ... os-de-irun. Since July is generally a busy month on the camino perhaps you should seek another location where you CAN make a reservation. The Albergue turístico Goikoerrota located between Irún and Hondarribia DOES take reservations. >> http://caminodesantiago.consumer.es./al ... oikoerrota. Having a reserved bunk after traveling for many hours would make your start much more relaxed.

Buen Camino,

Margaret Meredith

Thank you so much for the recommendation. Albergue is now booked.

Where is your destination Day 1 ?are you on the Norte ? Just wondering as you had posted earlier and may have changed your route plans now.

Sarita last year i walked the Camino Francis from St Jean to Santiago. July /August a busy time indeed . I didnt make any reservations along the way and i really dont know of anyone else who did either.. It never occurred to me that i would have needed to do this.. I can only tell you of my own experience and of those fellow Pilgrims i walked with. Its seems to be causing a lot of worry for many Pilgrims this need to make reservations...
I intend returning to the Camino later this year and once again i shall just arrive and allow the Camino to do the rest.. Thats part of the magic and mystery of this wonderful journey..

In any case i wish you well and a Buen Camino

Hi Ana Dara

I arrive a day before my companion so will wait in Irun overnight and then head out to our starting point of Bayonne. Traveling through the Basque region and join el camino France's in Burgos. I've chosen this way because I started in SJPP last year and want to experience the beautiful country side of where my parents and grand parents grew up. Most of all, I'm looking forward to walking through the pass.

Hi Rob,

Last year when I walk in May / June, I never worried about finding a bed. There was only one day of the whole camino that we where left with no place to sleep and that was in Monjardin. It was late and there was no way we could walk any further having already walked 38km. A local agreed to let us use an old barn. It was cold, but we really didn't care, we were so grateful to have a roof over our heads.

This year, I'm returning in July and not going to allow this to be of concern. I'm with you, I will enjoy the magic of the camino and the experiences that it brings.

Thanks Sara
