Best way to Mauléon-Licharre from Florida

Time of past OR future Camino
Hopefully this fall!
I know, by plane. Now having solved that part of the dilemma, here's the rest: I can fly out of Fort Lauderdale or Miami equally. I just don't know if it's better to fly into Billbao or Paris(Charles DeGaulle) or Bayonne or what. I want to visit my friend's grave in Mauléon and start my Camino from there. While I have garnered some tidbits of information on the Camino from Mauléon, I still don't know if that's the Le Puy route or the Piedmont or ??? Where do I find guides on tgat leg of the Camino? I would ask my friend but unfortunately it's a bit late for that. I want took my tickets soon so I may go next month.

It is indeed on the Voie du Piemont.
One of my friends walked it and says it is her favourite Camino.

Bayonne would be ideal to fly into or train from Paris.
There is a bus from Bayonne to Mauléon three times a day.

All the best!

Thank you Sabine! I have a list of gites from Mauléon to SJPP but it's the getting there that was the problem. Now I can plan as airfare (for now) is affordable to Paris and even connecting to Bayonne.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
From Mauleon (a very pleasant little city) there are two stages to SJPP. The first includes the Napale pass -it is a perfectly doable, but serious climbing (from 140 m to 549). Beautiful sights, on the other side. And take notice that there are three options, from the relatively easy (the paved road) to difficult (the GR scenic route). A young lady at the tourism bureau (main square) gave me a good map and some explanations (and a stamp in my credential)
I was in Mauleon at the end of September, and lodgment became a problem to many walkers. There is just one albergue, and three or four hostals. It could have been a kind of "wave", but maybe reservation is a good idea.
