Time of past OR future Camino
2015 all going well :)
Hi everyone!

Almost 2 months till I leave for the El Camino Frances (first one)...from Mid May - Mid/late June. I have one nagging question my controlling mind won't rest about!

I have booked my first evening in SJPDP, but the question is should I plan ahead? for example know where I will be staying along the way...or just go with the flow and stay where I finish walking each day?

Will I be sweet if I just take a map, leave SJPDP and follow the posts/signs to Santiago? I'm generally an early riser..but even if I lie in the fields, do some yoga, climb a tree will I get a bed ok in most towns/villages along the way? To be honest I don't have too much of a problem sleeping outside anyway so maybe I just answered my own question!

Any help advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Kind Regards

Reserve in SJPDP and Huntto or Orisson if you don't want to do the Pyrenees in one day. After that, just go with the flow! Buen Camino, SY

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Your choice Marc,
Personally I had a mixture of going with the flow (the majority of the time) and booking non-Alberue ahead on a few occasions for a bit of "relative luxury". Depends on your needs and your budget.

I met people who went with the flow who had a wonderful time, I met people who went with the flow and were less happy who when they spoke revealed they had expected more from Albergues.

For what it's worth, this year I am unlikely to book non-Albergue beds ahead.

Buen Camino

I book the first night then go free form after that.

I had no problems but I do start and finish fairly early, most days I aim to stop by 14:00.

Whether or not it's more difficult to get a bed later I can't say.
