I read that the most of the stretch between Caldas de Reis and padrón follows along the highway. Doesn’t sound very scenic. Since I have to skip a stretch to catch a flight, would you recommend this one or the stretch between Pontevedra and Caldas de Reís?

(Im don’t have time to consider the variante espiritual, rather the shorter route.)

Thanks!

That's not how I recall that section of the CP. It might follow the line of the highway, but I don't recall any long sections actually alongside the highway. I don't have a recommendation for you, you will have to make that call yourself.

i’ll be walking that stretch in September.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

A short while you follow a National road ( that’s not a highway or freeway) but most of the hike follows rural area, through some villages, some dirt paths. Very nice walk .
Mind if you will apply for a Compostela certificate, you have to show two stamps a day during the last 100 kms to Santiago.so better to skip a stage before those last 100 kms. Besides that do not skip Padrón to Santiago . It is the glorious moment to arrive there and imho it is one of the highlights of your caminho

I walked last week and that is not true. It does follow the line of the highway, but there's no walking next to the highway.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Where are you now? My wife and I walked the CP coastal (sendero littoral) from Porto last year to Viana do Castelo. We then took a bus to Valença to skip the walk through Vigo and save some time (same reason as you). That still left us more than 100km to walk and qualify for the Compostela.

I would strongly suggest you walk this stretch. Unfortunately time doesn't seem to be on your side but there is a beautiful park with waterfalls just on the way about 5/6km before Caldas and also waterfalls just along the river[1.5 km] to the right as you enter Caldas. I spent a full day exploring/touring these areas and it was my favourite day of that particular Camino. If you have to skip a stretch maybe get bus or taxi to about 5kms out of Santiago. The last day was fairly crowded with tour groups and school trips etc.

I walked it today. (In Padron now; going to Santiago tomorrow.) It was very nice and no highway walking. Some small paved lanes but plenty of dirt paths through the forest.

I walked it in 2019 and my recollection is that from Padron to the Albergue La Calabaza del Peregrino in O Faramello was not all that nice and from O Feremello into Santiago I thought was a grind.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
