Could someone please post a list of the most useful and user-friendly Camino apps which can be downloaded. Thankyou in advance.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I've added the tag "phones/apps/gps/maps" to the top of this thread. If you click/tap on it you will find many threads on the subject.

My two favorite Camino specific apps are Wise Pilgrim (the free version is fine, but the paid version is much more complete) and Buen Camino.

Thankyou Trecile :)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Trecile has given you a good start above. I will just note that for Wise Pilgrim, the free version is "All routes" but the paid (inexpensive) ones are specific to each route. So I have a Frances app and a Portugues app and a Primitivo app and a Salvador app, all from Wise Pilgrim.

Other potentially useful apps include:
  • Camino Forum (this Forum, although I just use the website)
  • Gronze Maps (although, again, I tend to use the website)
  • Camino Ninja has many enthusiastic adherents. It disappeared for a while from the app stores after the fellow who created it sadly passed away (on the Camino). It seems to be back now, although I'm not sure how the updating is happening.
  • AlertCops may be useful for the Spanish portion of any Camino.
  • I also tend to take with me the Camino de Santiago app from the Spanish Instituto Nacional Geografico.
  • It is also useful to have a more general hiking app that can show you good ways to get from point A to point B on foot. Some of these also come with Camino routes available. Popular ones include Organic Maps, Windy Maps and Wikiloc.

I have created this spreadsheet of useful Camino links for my local American Pilgrims chapter. You can make a copy of it and add your own links to it if you want.

I have quite a few Camino Apps on my phone.
Maybe it's my addled brain, but I don't find them very intuitive to use.
And they are often overly packed with 'features' that make them hard to navigate.
And on my recent Camino I found a lot of entries outdated.
So I only look at them now and again.

My 'go to' App is Gronze!
I use the website though, haven't tried the app.
Everything you need and simple to use.........
I use it for stage profile and maps.
Download gps tracks. (now on the App I think)
Accommodation listings.......

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

The only app that Gronze has is a maps app, but you need to have an Internet connection to use it - it doesn't have offline maps like Wise Pilgrim and Buen Camino apps do. And it's only available for Android. On an iPhone you can access the maps via the web.

Thankyou Trecile,

Join our full-service guided tour of the Basque Country and let us pamper you!
I'm looking forward to the Gronze app being available for the iPhone!
If you follow the directions on their site you can use the Gronze maps on your iPhone.

Click the link below, create an account, and agree to let Gronze use your location, then voila! You'll see the maps.

Thanks for noting this Trecile. My understanding is they have an Android app, and are working on one for the iPhone, too.

Yes, I have an Android phone and I used the maps app last year, especially on the Norte between Bayonne and Irun. But you need to have an internet connection to use it, and it performs the same as using the web link. You could just bookmark that web address instead of downloading an app

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

This is fantastic!

Google maps is all I needed, and only to find accommodation in larger towns and cities.
