Camino Compass

After our first Camino we recalled fondly the times we got off track. What had been a concern turned into just another turn in our Camino. Reading the many posts on the forum about guidebooks and maps and directions motivated me to develop this handy little compass for use on any Camino. To use it you just keep walking, following that arrow. Eventually you will be reunited with the other yellow arrows and scallop shells that are our familiar companions. The Camino provides. Enjoy the journey. Don't worry.

All this to say that a small, accurate and o-so-useful compass, is part of my everyday-carry package.

Now, by "small, accurate and o-so-useful" and "everyday-carry package" I mean this [in case it's important, all US paper currency has the same dimensions]:

Follow-up: My pictured EDC compass is an inexpensive (not "cheap") Chinese copy of the classic Silva Type 27, long out of production. I carried a Silva Type 27 on all of my various adventures since the early 1980s, retiring it only when it became obvious that the Type 27 was a much-sought-after item. I switched first to the Brunton replacement, and then to the Chinese copy.

The original and all copies are marked in 5-degree increments which means (because they're also sighting compasses) that I can get approximately 2.5-degree accuracy.

The compass also has markings so it can be used as a sun-watch, an angle-measuring tool, etc....

In all seriousness, though, one reason is that boyz stuff is larger/heavier than girlz stuff.

Just two examples (I'm 6 feet tall and my wife is 5 feet 11 inches)

My wife's shoes = ladies' size 9 regular
My shoes = men's size 13 EEE

My wife's shirts = ladies' large or men's medium
My shirts = men's 2XL

On our recent central Europe tour, my wife's carry-on still had plenty of room inside. My carry-on is identical to hers, but even though I was carrying no more stuff than she was, it would barely zip shut. Hers would easily fit into the overhead compartment while mine could only be hammered into place. (The flight attendant was NOT pleased....)
