Camino Lingo phrase book

Has anyone had any experience with the Camino Lingo phrase book? Or other suggestion? I have a small workable facility with Spanish and like the idea of a Camino specific guide to multiple languages.

I think @ivar used to sell it.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I bought it and returned it. It was way more than I was interested or capable of learning.

¿Tienes una cama?

¿Qué hay para comer?

¿Dónde dejo mi donación?

Una cerveza fria por favor.

Covers most needs and improvisation on those themes has kept the rest covered ;)
Seems a bit “what are you doing for me?” When I’m looking for something a little more interactive. :D

And in local dialects to show that I really do appreciate that the cider is cold. 🍻

I don’t think that the Camino Lingo book will meet your needs in that case. It ranks with “Krek Waiter’s Peak Bristle” (Amazon listed) as an excellent source of entertainment but not a conversational resource 😉
Ouch o_O

I doubt a guidebook will help much for interactive conversation. You can always just use google translate or better yet start walking with someone who speaks Spanish!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I would download Spanish for offline use on Google Translate, and save phrases that I frequently used.

Thanks, I have all the apps, translators etc. I was looking for something useful for saying polite phrases in Catalan, Basque, etc.

Not a phrasebook, but a useful resource: italki.com, a website for live online language lessons. I use it for studying Spanish, and there are many teachers on the site that offer lessons in Basque and Galician. 30 minute trial lessons are only $5/6 per 30 minutes (you can get 3 trial lessons). You can record the lessons, and if you prepare your questions ahead of time, 30 minutes can provide you with a goodly set of common phrases with native pronunciation. I'm going to do it.

I don't know if anyone else has suggested it, but Duolingo is free, and online, and I think comes with a translation app useful for while you're "in the field."
