Hello i was thinking of doing the camino via de la plata next month. But i cant find information as to camping. I have a cople of questions.. Are you allowed to camp anywhere along the camino? Or is there certain designated places? Reason i ask is beacause i dont want to spend any money on lodging. Im on a strict budget. Also, with a good pace, how long will it take to do the via de la plata.?
I will also take suggestion if anybody has them. I can be emialed to nico19@rocketmail.com
thank you,
NICK

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Nico, I plan on camping along the route also.
Mermaid Lilli has said there are plenty of open places to camp.

I'd sure appreciate any feedback you can give us on camping on the VDP, as we are planning on doing it in early September.

In 2004 the tourism institute of Spain - Turespana - published an official guide of hostals, pensions, hotels, and camping sites on the Caminos called "Guia Oficial de Hoteles y Campings del Camino de Santiago". It is available in French, German, Spanish and English and lists all accommodation authorized by the appropriate municipal and national tourism authorities including campsites. You can obtain the booklet free of charge in any tourist office or from TOURSPAIN E-mail: manuel.jurado@tourspain.es.
It might be a bit out of date but I'm sure many of the camp sites are still there.

For a list of ‘Aires’ in Spain go to http://www.campingcar-infos.com - on the left side of the page you will see Rechercher une aire, click on that and scroll down the page untill you see Espagne, there are 57 Aires listed here.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I do not recall seeing designated camp grounds along the Via de la Plata. I may be wrong. I did see many places along it that would be ideal for camping, secluded even. The distances between "stages" are longer than the CF, so I would be prepared to carry food and water into the area you plan to camp.
