Time of past OR future Camino
Leon - Santiago (July, 2015)
Hello, everybody!
This is my first post and first time walking El Camino (Leon - Santiago), so before I ask anything, I'd like to thank you for all the info and help I already found here in order to complete my preparation! :)

I will arrive tomorrow (July 10) in Leon, pretty late... Any advice on where I could find a place to spend the night?

Thank you, and can't wait to meet whoever is already out there!
Buen camino!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Yep, try to book something in advance!

In Leon we did a extravaganza and slept at the Parador Hostal de San Marcos... Most expensive night of the trip, but it was incredible.
There are plenty of lbergues, inns and hotels in the city. If you arrive late, it´s better to have a place booked so you don´t worry at your arrival!

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Go on booking.com and you should be able to find something reasonable. The nice thing about booking.com is you can see the location of hotels and hostels. Book something close to the cathedral and you will be near the camino to start your walk.

I stayed at Hotel Oviedo, about five minutes from the Cathedral, good budget hotel and you can walk along the river and pick up the Camino near the Parador or walk into the Cathedral and pick it up there. Check Booking.com

I like Wayfarers idea just because the location close to the Cathedral & finding the arrows leaving Leon. You may want to keep your first day walk somewhat short as the walk out of Leon may be a bit overwhelming for your first day. Once you find a group of pilgrims leaving keep them in sight.
Buen Camino

Hospederia Pax, next door to the Carbajalas albergue. You can start walking with everyone else in the morning.

Keith makes an excellent point...follow the pilgrims. I started from Leon on my first camino and it was a little difficult to find the arrows. If you get lost just head to the parador and pick up the arrows from there (head to the bridge from the parador). You should see pilgrims from there and you can follow them:)! Plan to leave early (between 7:00-8:00) because most pilgrims will be walking at daybreak. Don't be shy and ask questions...the pilgrims will help you get started. On my first camino, a friendly pilgrim showed me how to check my feet, shared her snacks with me (I had none) and showed me how to check into the albergue (my Spanish was almost nonexistent back then). From then on I was fine. Have a wonderful camino!

Thank you so much for you advices! I went to booking.com and found something very close to the cathedral, as you guys suggested! Then we just bought the stamp note, the map and of course the known shells to sign our backpacks like everyone does! it was easy to find the arrows and we started to walk!
We are now in Triacastela for the night and will keep walking tomorrow!
I am so happy I am doing this! Already met so many beautiful people!
Thank you!

Oh, and for whoever arrives too late in Leon for an Albergue (I arrived at 4 am), reading this post, I checked in at Hostal Misericordia. One room with twin beds, tv, air conditioner, very clean and 3 minutes walk from the Cathedral - only €30! You can find the hostal on booking.com.
Buen camino! :)
