Christmas/New Year Period

Hi,
Me and my Girlfriend are planning to do the camino from Sarria to Santiago between Christmas and New Year. Do you have any tips and suggestions especially regarding the equipment and the accomodations please? Everything is appreciated as this is our first time doing the camino and very excited about it.

The weather is variable, but it could be cool and clear for you! Many of the small albergues will be closed, so plan on stops in the major destinations. Xunta albergues are usually available all year, but you may have to call ahead to have it unlocked. Restaurants do not stay open hoping for the stray pilgrims, so toss a spare granola bar into you pack.

Have fun. You will still meet a dozen fellow pilgrims each day, so it should not be "lonely." Santiago will be very festive, so enjoy it and its great food.
