Compostela question

Currently on Camino Frances and loving it. Thinking of continuing to Finisterre +/- Muxia and possibly back to Santiago.
My question is: can I get my Santiago Compostela on my return rather than my way through Santiago to avoid carrying it to Finisterre, thus avoiding chances of losing or spoiling it?

As long as you have all your stamps and two per day for the last 100 kms, then yes. And you can get your Fisterriana too while you are out there!

I was uder the impression you had to show your Compostela to get the Fisterriana. I could be very wrong.

I thought you only needed to show your credencial to get it? But I could be wrong. Time to search the forum for 'fisterriana'!

For an extra euro or two, at the pilgrim's office in Santiago you can get a sturdy cardboard tube to put you compostela in. Put the tube in a plastic bag for more protection, and there ya go. No worries.

If you have a correctly stamped credential then you can go to the pilgrim's office any time after completion. So just go to the tourist office and ask for information about the Finisterre? They will give you a credential to use for the new journey as well as an excellent information sheet listing accommodation, shops availability and ATM locations. Use it to get your Finisterre certificate and then your original at the Pilgrim's office on your return to SDC.

Or get your compostela laminated (at a little shop near the pilgrim office), and slip it into the big flat pocket that is usually on the inside of the back of a pack. Jill
