I will be travelling solo from Madrid to Leon the end of September, and meeting my husband who is walking from SJPP, to finish together. Is it simpler to take transport (bus) straight from the airport on the day of my arrival, or should I stay overnight in Madrid and take a train the next day. Is there a bus station in the Madrid Airport? Gracias!

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Yes, there is a bus station: it is called "Madrid Barajas".
You can there take a bus Alsa to León, for instance.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Depends entirely on whether you prefer travelling by bus or train and whether you want to overnight in Madrid or Leon. All options are open to you.

Simplest (if that is ‘efficient’) is bus straight from airport to Leon.

I think it also depends on you, where your are traveling from, time of day, etc. I always stay a night in Madrid to help me recover from jetlag and then travel whether by bus or train. I am less likely to make an error in judgment or stumble.

I've done that -- taken the ALSA bus directly from MAD Barajas to Leon -- and can recommend it enthusiastically. Cheap, clean and comfortable, simple, fast.
