Has anyone stayed here? Do you have an email address? I have telephoned, but my Spanish is not up to holding a conversation, and the lady who answered did not speak English. I can use Google Translate to communicate electronically.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

They have a FaceBook page. Maybe you can message them there?

I called them recently but they are not open yet —- I believe she said around the first of April they will open - too late for us.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I stayed there last year! Nice little place. They let us leave our car in a cow field while we walked to Santiago (no we didn’t use the car to do the Camino, it was used before and after!)

I, too, have stayed in the Casa Garcia in Gonzar, March 2009 and late November 2010 when midway between Portomarin/Palais de Rei and suddenly grounded by a drastic case of 'tourist tummy'. Luckily the Casa was open while the near-by municipal albergue was closed. At the Casa old farm buildings have been successfully renovated with new additions of natural wood, slate and field-stone. I especially appreciated the black slate toilet/shower with toasty sub-floor heating. Elsewhere, however, there was no ambient heat and the interior was most FRIGID. Of course I wore my woolly hat indoors and since I was the only pilgrim there were plenty of blankets for tucking below and above the sleeping bag.

I see on their Facebook page that they have received a number of less than favorable reviews; however, we stayed there in 2013 and found the place delightful. I was in the midst of a particularly nasty plantar fasciitis episode, so my wife and I chose one of their private rooms so I would have an undisturbed afternoon of rest, which was much needed. Perhaps things have changed since we were there, but I would recommend Casa Garcia based on our experience. They served great tapas at the bar in the courtyard, and the dinner in the dining room was quite good, as I recall.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

That Facebook page is rather strange. It gives the address as Gonzar n8 (Portomarin), Saint Petersburg, Russia 27188 and the phone number is, apparently, that of a tobacconist in A Coruña.
But, thanks to a Spanish-speaking moderator, I have a room booked for the date I want.
